Your Coast, Your Values, Your Vision

Those of us who make our homes on British Columbia’s coast know that from sea floor to mountain summit, this place is special. And we too are part of the rich web of life that makes our coast so diverse.

Your Coast, Your Values, Your Vision is a story map exploring, through interviews with people who live all along BC’s coast, what we value in this region and our concerns about and our hopes for the future of BC’s coast.

Our Home

An Ecological Treasure

Globally, this region is precious because of its staggering natural diversity, filled with species and spaces found nowhere else on Earth. B.C.'s northern marine ecosystem is a priceless biological treasure and we are responsible for protecting this unique place.  Learn more

Under Pressure

Yet, we also know that increased development pressure, resource mismanagement, pollution, and global warming threaten the health of our marine ecosystems. There is a need to protect B.C.'s marine species and habitats as development proceeds.

We need an integrated approach to management of our marine resources so that ongoing human activities are sustainable. Learn more

A Vision for the Pacific Marine Ecoregion

Changing the way we manage our oceans, means changing the way we think about the connections in marine ecosystems. It means finding solutions that support communities and protect the environment that sustains us.

This region deserves a vision for a sustainable future.  We are all responsible for ensuring that our oceans are well managed so that they may continue to sustain us, today and tomorrow. Learn more
